Secondary Class Descriptions
We have many class choices for our Secondary students (11 and up) including Biblical World View, Flags, Art, Choir, PE, Comedy and many more! Classes do vary some depending on the semester and teachers.
Art
​A creative workshop where students will learn to make objects using a variety of hands-on techniques and materials such as painting, drawing, ceramics, fabrics, and paper crafting.
Will include some brief history of each project.
Apothecary 101
This class will explore using nature as your medicine cabinet, creating essential oils and other home remedies. Students will learn the basics of how to preserve and use herbs in tinctures, oxymels, syrups, salves, and more.
Biblical Worldview
Biblical Worldview is a required class for all secondary students. The class will open with prayer, receive a Biblical lesson then break into small groups for discussion. Time and discussion will be spent practicing the use of Biblical scriptures and biblical reference tools to find and record Truth to combat lies in our sight, thoughts, speech, counsel, and actions. Classes will often alternate with a lesson week and an application week. Lesson weeks will focus on learning and finding Scripture related to what is true. Application weeks will consist of students sharing scripture and the experience of applying what they learned from the prior lesson.

Please have Students bring their own Bible. We do have extras if you don't have one or forget.

Students must bring writing tools for their journals. (colored pens & pencil, highlighters)

Students are highly encouraged to share prayer requests, struggles they may be dealing with in culture or how they would like the class to find truth with Scripture.
This class will be taught by Mrs. Traci Slagter.
Board Games
This fun class will give students time to play games and socialize! (You MUST participate in games or other class approved activities!)

Convo & Crochet
This class will be for intermediate crocheters. You can bring a project to work on while we do a Bible Study. If you are a beginner and would like to join we are happy to teach you as well!
Cheerleading
A basic introduction to competitive cheerleading. Cheerleaders will learn a short routine and perform at our Fall and Spring performances. This will include cheers, a dance, jumps, and group stunting. Cheerleaders will need to purchase black leggings and a Veritas Cheer T-shirt. Medical release forms are required.
Choir
Learning the fundamentals of using our singing voices properly with an introduction to harmony.
This class will be taught by Darci Bilberry.
Comedy Improv
Come be funny! We will offer this class two different hours this semester with Andy Parks teaching one of the classes and Liz Peak teaching the other! This class is sure to be fun!
Computer Science & AI
In this class students will learn how to use media tools for the future. It will include hands on digital media using 100% free tools such as GIMP, Canva, Blender, and DaVinci Resolve, as well as exploring free AI technology.
Dance
Dance is more than just movements. Dancing tells a story. It is fueled by emotion. It’s a process of feeling and moving through that feeling. It lets you express whatever you’re going through by dancing your heart out and glorifying God. This fun, energetic, and unique class will be taught by Carmen Parks. Male dancers would be greatly appreciated and will more than likely receive a featured part in the program. This class requires practice outside of class time.

Drawing
This class will focus on shading and drawing various objects.
Fishing: History, Equipment and Practice
This class will cover the history of fishing from beginning to today, physiology and biology of fish, their habitat and environment, food sources, historical vs modern techniques and equipment, knots, types and techniques of fishing, casting, fly tying. Mostly this class will be applicable to fishing in the Ozarks. Fishing in other areas of the country will be mentioned, but mostly focusing in the Ozarks. There will be a supervised outing at the end of the semester outside of class time. This class will be taught by Jason Bradley.
Forensic Science
This class is for 14-18 year old students only.
We will be working on labs from the Masterbooks Forensic Science textbook.
Home Ec
Your student will learn the basics of car maintenance, first aid, baby care, baking, how to budget and, most importantly, how to pray and study the Bible, among other necessary life skills.
Junk Journaling
Have you heard of Wreck This Journal, Mixed Media Art, or Junk Journaling? Whatever your answer, this class is for you! We will focus on putting together a keepsake journal that revolves around you. This is for life events, your favorite things, journaling, letting off steam, your favorite Bible verses - anything that makes you - YOU! You can make this a beautiful work of art or chaos. It’s your choice!
Kitchen Chemistry
This class will let students explore the chemical reactions that one can find in everyday items found in the kitchen.
Lego Robotics
This class will let students work to create robots out of Lego kits. This is a great class to encourage thinking skills!
Photography
The Art of Photography. Students will learn about natural lighting, camera settings and exposure.
Cropping and framing. Students are encouraged to bring in a camera if possible.
And we will learn about capturing images of landscapes, people and pets.
Pilates & Stretch
This class uses controlled, low-impact movements to strengthen your core, improve flexibility, and support whole-body wellness. We'll move together in an encouraging, faith-filled space and close with time in God's Word.
PE
Middle & High School PE: We will practice a variety of sports with the goal of gaining fitness, learning new skills, and having a lot of fun with your classmates. The class rotates through both team and individual sports. Fall sports may include Dodgeball, Jump rope, volleyball and Futsol (indoor soccer).
We offer two different PE classes one for our 11-13 year old students and one for our 14-17 year old students.
Our amazing PE teacher is Mrs. Erin Watson.
Project Management
This class will be the work force behind student council and activities,
providing assistance in projects and getting things done.
Revolution Flags
Revolution Flags is a student favorite and this class will strive to challenge and encourage your student to use their gifting to Honor the Lord. Learning Flags techniques can be demanding as it will build muscle strength and take discipline. Equally, it is fun to work as a team and exhilarating once you have picked up the techniques.

THIS IS A PERFORMANCE-BASED CLASS. IF YOUR CHILD/CHILDREN WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE PERFORMANCE PLEASE NOTIFY THE TEACHER ASAP. (This is important because of the choreography that takes place inside the classroom for the end-of-semester performance. Last-minute changes can be difficult and stressful on the students and teachers.)

Students must have their own Flags. (You may rent or purchase your students' flags. If you purchase you may choose your flag color. If you rent your student will be given colors that are available.)

Students must return rental flags at the end of each semester. (No exceptions)

Students must bring their flags each week to class. (We do not have extras if your student forgets. They may not be able to practice if they forget to bring them.)

Students are highly recommended to purchase a “Flag Team Shirt”. (If this isn’t applicable to your student, they need to wear a dark gray shirt for the performance.)

Students must practice at home. (Instruction videos are on our Facebook page and website.)

Students must be willing to listen and learn the movements. (We ask that all students bring their best attitude to class.
Sewing
Our sewing class this semester will teach students how to sew with sewing machines and also hand stitching.
They will make simple sewing projects in class. This class will be taught by Mrs. Tamara Wasielewski.
Sketch Comedy
Sketch comedy students will write short, funny scenes, called "sketches.” A sketch is usually between one and ten minutes long and performed by a group. Students will be writing short sketches both on their own and as a group. At the end of the semester, there will be an opportunity for students to perform some of the sketches they have written.
Strength Training
This class will focus on building strength and endurance over the semester! This class will be taught by Brandon Young and participation is required!
Student Helper
We will have places for up to 3 student helpers per class hour. Student helpers will help in the nursery, preschool or prime time areas during the time they are helping. This will offer good experience in interacting with younger children. Student helpers will be placed where needed.
Worshiping Hands
Worshiping Hands is a class that equips kids with a new way to Worship the Lord and communicate through American Sign Language. They will learn a song that will be performed at the end of the Semester performance. Additionally, they will learn basic conversational ASL. In 1 Corinthians 9:16-23 Paul explains that he has, "Become all things, to all people" so that the gospel might be proclaimed. The goal in class is to equip your children with a useful skill that is versatile and can be used to Glorify God.

Word in Motion
In Word in Motion students will be acting out scenes and/or telling stories through scripture and/or music.
YearBook
This class will work on putting together the 2025/26 Veritas Yearboook! This class will be taught by Anna Burgess.
You Are What You Eat
Students will learn about what's in the food we eat now versus 20-40 years ago.
We will learn the difference between processed and non-processed food.
