Primary Class Descriptions
Orange- 5 & 6 year olds- The orange kids will gather in the downstairs gym until we assemble and dismiss to classes. Orange students will have a home room teacher who stays with them throughout the day as they go between classes. This makes the day run smoothly and helps kids transition from the preschool to the regular class schedule. Orange kiddos will have Art, PE, Music, Puzzles, Bible, Library & Lunch every morning. There will be afternoon classes after lunch. The afternoon classes include: Recess, Playing with Your Food, STEM, Imaginative Play & Creative. Parents will pick up in the car rider drive through line in the back of the building
.Green 7 & 8 year olds will be dropped off in the downstairs gym space. The Green kiddos will have Art, PE, Science, Library, Bible & Lunch in the morning. Some of the afternoon class choices include: Gymnastics, Musical Theatre, Nature Journaling, Worshipping Hands, Flags, Dance, Creative Building and Book Club. Parents will pick up in the car rider drive through line in the back of the building.
Blue 9 & 10 year olds will be dropped off in the downstairs gym space. The Blue kiddos will have Art, PE, Science, Library, Bible & Lunch in the morning. Some of the afternoon class choices include: Gymnastics, Nature Journaling, Musical Theatre, Flags, Board Games, Improv, Archery, Cheer, Dance & Worshipping Hands. Parents will pick up in the car rider drive through line in the back of the building.
Adventures in Odessey
Students will get to watch an episode of Adventures in Odessey during this
class time each week and then will discuss.
Art
Students will explore the creative process, develop their artistic skills & experiment with a variety of art materials.
Bible
Biblical exploration through scripture, song, conversation and games! This class follows our general theme for the year. We believe relationship and time with the Father will encourage growth.
Board Games
Students will have the opportunity to play a variety of board games with their peers. Teacher is there to assist with the rules, participation, and to encourage healthy sportsmanship.
Book Club
We will read and discuss an age appropriate book in this class together.
Cheer
This cheer class will introduce cheer moves, jumps and beginning stunts.
This class will perform at the end of semester program.
Creative
This class is just for our 5 & 6 year old students.
They will do various art projects and play with Play-Doh.
Creative Builders
This class will give students the chance to build with items like Legos, K'nex & other items to use and sharpen their creative skills.
Dance
This class is for beginner or experienced dancers! We will learn a dance and different styles of dance over the course of the semester and will perform a dance at the end of semester program.
Drama
Students have the opportunity to learn and practice their acting, singing and dancing skills as all or some of these come together in our semester performance.
Flags
Flags is a great way students can worship at Veritas. Students learn flag movements and perform a choreographed song together. The students learn team work and dedication in this class. If you like fast paced, fun, and loud then this is the class for you. Please know to perfect the motions you will need to be practicing throughout the week at home.
Gymnastics
This class will teach basic gymnastic skills like handstands, cartwheels, bridges and other skills as the kids progress. It will also help kids work on flexibility and strengthening. This is a very active, fun class. Students need to be prepared to participate and be good listeners for this class to be enjoyable and safe for everyone.
Improv
Students will play games and have opportunities to learn and improve their
comedy improv abilities in this class.
Library
Students will learn to navigate the Library and use it's resources. For example, how to choose a book, and learning the Dewey Decimal System. The class will be able to check out a new book each week.
Math Games
This will teach and enforce math skills through fun games! Your student may not even
realize they are practicing math!
Music
Each semester has a unique theme, and classes provide a wide variety of exposure to musicians, composers, instruments, music history, performances, and the elements of music. Students also have the opportunity to participate in group vocal and instrumental performances that have included recorders, bucket drums, glockenspiels, and rhythm instruments.
News
This class is only for our 9 & 10 year old students. Each week students will record a small news report on Veritas happenings and upcoming events and then the news will be posted on the
Veritas Enrichment page on Facebook. This is such a fun class!
PE
This class emphasizes sports-related skills, movement patterns, games, and fitness activities. Designed to help students develop a positive attitude towards physical activity.
Reading Games
This class is for 5 & 6 year olds. They will play games and do activities that
will focus on reading and comprehension of words.
Science
Science may be math, it may be sticky, it could include magnets and balances or messy experiments. You never know what these teachers of ours have in mind. We can promise it will always be fun. This class is offered as a STEM option for students 7-10 years old.
Strength Training
This class is only for our 9 & 10 year old students. It will focus on building muscles and learning how to work out through different activities each week. This class requires participation and following directions so that everyone is safe. Equipment must be used in a safe manner.
Worshiping Hands
Teacher will take the students through a worship song learning several American Sign Language words for the song, as well as additional worship signs that go with the song. Students also perform the song they have learned during the end of semester performance.
Veggie Tales & Snack
This class is only for 5 & 6 year olds. This will be a fun class for the students to have some down time during the day and watch a fun Veggie Tales show that will teach Bible stories. They will also have snack in this class. We will have a snack sign up and we ask parents of these student to sign up to
bring snack one time per semester for the class.
